Active in film and video since the 1970s, Peggy Ahwesh has produced work that is an inquiry into identity and body politics, popular culture, and genre through high and low technology, humorous antics, and adventurous form. Ahwesh is a professor of film at Bard College and has taught with the Bard affiliates Smolny College, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Al Quds-Bard, occupied West Bank. Recent exhibitions include Two Serious Ladies (2015, Murray Guy) and Plagiarist of My Unconscious Mind! (2015, Château Shatto.) Ahwesh was represented in the Whitney Biennial exhibitions of 1991, 1995, and 2002.
