We are getting ready for our school tour of the International. Some students have seen it already with families. We are creating artworks that may relate to what they see when they get there.
One thing 5th grade is doing relates to Mario Merz. They are creating designs using the fibonacci set and stamping patterns related to this. They love it!
Our 6th grade makes shards of broken clay and paints on it to look like partial images. Similar to ancient artifacts and even Picasso tried his hand at it. When the 6th grade sees the works of Monahan I'm hoping they will relate to his artistic expressions.
Seventh grade will be working with wire, string and clay to create sculptural designs and will study the work of Shettar.
Eighth grade is thinking about social issues, Paul Thek and the Picasso painting: Guernica among others. these works will be their inspiration and take off point for creating works on newspaper.
