Attack Theatre: Remainder, Phase Two
Thurs., Jan. 8
Attack Theatre dancers return to Carnegie Museum of Art for Phase Two of Remainder, a 10-month process/performance inspired by Life on Mars.

Developing Drawing

July 7-11

Expand on your interest in drawing by developing and refining your skills in this weeklong workshop. Through sketches, drawing exercises, and more finished studio compositions, you will learn to draw from a live model in the studio, artwork in the museum galleries, and out of doors. Investigate proportions of the human figure and the use of value to create the illusion of three-dimensional forms. Explore the use of line in graphite, charcoal, conte crayon and pastel to develop and hone skills in both representational and expressive drawing. For more information, please call 412-622-3214.

Architecture 101

July 7-18

Are you considering a career in architecture? Build your portfolio in this studio course that introduces college-level architectural concepts. Focus on design development, model making, and aesthetics. Explore abstract design ideas while gaining a greater understanding of architectural drawings, renderings, and models. Art Now Carnegie International Exploration

July 14-25

What does it mean to be an artist today? How do emerging and established artists from Pittsburgh, the U.S. and different places around the world process their individual and communal life experiences through the creative process? Discover a range of art forms, from the traditional to technological, used by contemporary artists in works on view in the 2008 Carnegie International. Find your own voice, as you interpret and evaluate their works from your perspective. Delve more deeply into the creative process as you experiment with materials and modes to explore your own life experiences and world view. (Two-week workshop)

Architecture 102

July 21-August 1

Want more architecture? This course is similar to Architecture 101, but with new projects. Less time will be spent on architectural basics – and more on design and critiques. While Architecture 101 is NOT a prerequisite, students registering for this course should have some knowledge of basic architectural drawing. Portfolio Preparation

July 28-August 1

Are you considering applying to art schools and do you need pointers for putting together a portfolio that will provide a full picture of your potential? A professional artist educator will review and critique examples of your work and guide your artistic development to deepen and broaden your range and technique. Discover documentation and presentation methods to put your work in the best light. Join in student critiques and hear from a panel of artist educators to gain a range of perspectives.
