So, Life on Mars has officially been open for a whole 2 days and I still have yet to see it (but shhh don't tell anyone because I'm a Zero Gravity intern and that's kind of part of my job).
However, I can tell you that I picked myself up a copy of the Life On Mars book featuring the work and artists in this year's International. Two words: completely amazing. It has been permanently glued to my left hand since our meeting on Thursday and I have no idea why I don't just put it down now and go see Life on Mars itself.
Some of these works I am seeing as I flip through the book right now are completely captivating, not to mention, through provoking.
Douglas Fogle mentions something in the begining of the book about this show and how every piece of art, in one way or another "transports us aesthetically to other worlds", and from what I was able to catch a glimpse of while I was peaking around walls the other night, is that if that is the mission of Life on Mars (to "transport us aesthetically to other worlds") then it successfully succeeds in it's mission.
To say I'm looking forward to continuing this internship would be an understatement.
