One of Friedrich Kunath's paintings reminded me of this music video directed by one of my favorite visual artists, Floria Sigismondi, her work is absolutely amazing.
While most German artists are known to produce dark expressionistic art, Friedrich Kunath is playful yet also melancholic in his work "that speaks to universal experiences of yearning, dissappointment, and discovery."
In an untitled painting, Kunath depicts a simple black silhouette of a man walking in front of a dilapidated house on top of layers of washes in pink, orange, purple, yellow like watercolor sherbert.
Who is this man? What is his story? Where has he been and where is he going? This mysterious male silhouette carrying two bags evoked a narrative of a nomadic man who has gone through some hard times, but continues on forward wandering to his next home.
