Kai Althoff's untitled installation seduces the viewer with a strange scent drawing them into a carnivorous red room that is foreboding yet provokes the viewer to question and explore this foreign space.
On the floor a pair of scissors, a spool of thread, a red glass bottle, and other objects are strewn across the ground. When standing at the far left of the room the female figure seems to glare devilishly at you and if you move to the far right of the room she softly gazes to the side.
In front of the figure is a large rectangular resin sculpture divided by a trench that churns an intoxicating thick pink liquid. This is "a scene rife with sexuality and potentially demonic revelations."
The installation is an erotic and intense reflection of Althoff's strong connection to past German artists. Their influence is evident in his art, especially the sexual explicit work of Egon Schiele.
