ZeroGravity: High School Internship Program is based on the premise that teenagers have something meaningful to contribute to the interpretation of Life on Mars: the 55th Carnegie International exhibition. Twenty high school students, ages 14-18, from schools around Southwestern Pennsylvania, assemble weekly at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh to learn about contemporary art and museums. They do this by examining the museum's collections; interviewing curatorial staff and artists from around the world; and discussing how to engage an audience of teens—as well as people of all ages, particularly through the use of the Internet, which will serve as a key tool for interaction with this year's exhibition. Our Team creates blogs, zines, ads, videos, performances, installations, online exhibitions, screenings, artist talks, parties, T-shirts, buttons or whatever else they can imagine. Teen interns will have the opportunity to work with participating international artists, as well as professional artists who live in the area.
